We are told this saddle comes to us from Mongolia, a land with a rich horse tradition that dates back to Genghis Khan, and his mounted Mongol horde.
This saddle is made of carved wood, with the different elements that make up the saddle pinned together with the use of metal straps, with hooked ends, the construction is consistant with saddle making techniques of the time. The wood as well as all the metal have a wonderful patina that can only come with age. This piece also features it's original rope stirrups, and the remnants of authentic sharkskin that covers the front.
This piece is in fantastic condition for its age, it has marks of wear and tear however these only enhance the overall charm and rustic nature of the piece.
